There are cosplayers who just leave choice of material to the maker, when they are not happy, they blame the maker. When I started cosplaying, I knew that 1,000php or even 3,000 would not do if I wanted the best. Going back, most newbie cosplayers think that one stop cosplay shops / sellers exist and can give them very good items for less than a thousand bucks. I took up sewing only recently so only now do I get the chance to get better fabrics and material. She can't do most details but it is ok as I can handle that, together, we make a good team =) Her stitches are clean and her lines are straight and she understands what I want. This is all thanks to my favorite seamstress, and she is my favorite for a reason. I am proud to say that even though geena and katrina are our go to fabrics, we have never looked shabby. In short, high quality items doesn't have to be made from high quality materials.Īs much as I myself would love to splurge on better materials, I don't have the luxury as I pay for mine and my sister's costumes.

Low end materials can turn into quality masterpieces in the hands of skilled makers and in turn high quality materials can produce sloppy items if not used well. Good materials can really have a great effect on the end product but how well made it is can also be a key factor. The trick is: know the effect you want to achieve. BUT a good costume doesn't necessarily have to be made from high end materials as most seem to think, admittedly not everyone has enough cash to dole out so some parts of the costume would have to be compensated.
